Common Name: White-throated Honeyeater

Scientific Name: Melithreptus albogularis

Family: Meliphagidae

Order: Passeriformes

Other Names: N/A

Distribution: native to New Guinea, and eastern and northern Australia.

Habitat: Wet and Dry forests, Woodlands, sub-alpine forests, temperate rainforest, wet scrubs, coastal heathland, parks, gardens and urban areas.

Field Notes: olive green above and white below, with a black head, a white patch over the eye and a white stripe at the back of the neck. Size 11.5 - 14.5cm
Simular looking Western Australian White-naped Honeyeaters (race chloropsis) also have a white eye patch and so can be difficult to distinguish, but there is no range overlap. Eastern White-naped Honeyeaters (race lunatus) have a red eye patch.
