Hi all,

I finally got away with a mate for some walks around my local area. Up on Quamby we came across this track and thought it was probably a Tassie Devil. Right or wrong?

it is not a devil. I from the three pics think it is more a macropod walking on all 4's

Seems obvious now that you have said that. This is one of the things I want to work on.

Thanks.

I didn't think they looked devilish either (but I didn't comment earlier), but couldn't work out what they were .... now that you've said it it is quite obvious !

I think the 3rd photo clearly shows a "hand" print beside a foot and tail drag - obvious (now) !

The splayed "fingers" are non-devilish, from the tracks I've seen (in books / internet)

if I was to guess not knowing the wildlife of the area I would say it was a bettong or a pademelon depending on the size rear foot not easy to see in pics

A pic to show the difference of a devil footprint

Shows front and rear feet of the 5 animals

I'm reminded that you can't look at one track in isolation. You need to look at a much wider picture ....
