Family: Columbidae

Order: Columbiformes

Other Names: Nutmeg Pigeon, Torres Strait Pigeon

Distribution: Northern Australian coastline

Habitat: Coastal rainforests, mangroves and islands

Field Notes: Quite a large sized pigeon, growing up to 45cm in height and width. A white monotone coloured dove. The chest, back and head are all pure white. The wingtips and tail are a strong black. The back underside of the bird usually displays a black striping or patterning.
