Distribution:
Endmemic to Tasmania, now extinct on the Mainland.

Habitat:
Rainforest, sclerophyll forest, scrubland.

Field Notes:
Stocky, short tail, short legs, dark-brown to grey-brown above, red-brown belly. Males, are considerably larger than females, 1 - 1.2 m in overall length, including the tail.
