Particulary like the compass/sundial which must have been a costly item in its day. Remember once a long three day bushwalk in a remote wilderness area the battery in my wristwatch went unexpectedly flat.

On the first day.

Thereafter now use a self winding automatic watch, will never again rely on a battery powered watch again when out in the bush.
