Habitat: open grassland, grassy open woodland, farmed land and mulga
Field Notes: mid-brown, streaked bird with a rufous rump and upper tail, pale eyebrow and pale underparts, and a dark line through its eye. The male grows to about 19 cm in length and is larger than the female who reaches only about 16 cm.
