hy,

first off, my name's josh, Im 25 and from austria
I've been prowling the forum for a while now but still my first post

I'm coming to Perth on 14. Jan and will travel to Melbourne via Darwin on a bicycle in about one years time
more or less along the coast
no trip to the centre as I've been there before and it simply would f up my timeplan

but I just thought, if some of you guys are more or less on my way maybe someone's intrested in a daywalk or get together

I will try to post some pictures and updates along the way, but I cant make no promises as I wont bring a laptop...

if someone's intrested let me kown and I'll try to make it work

best
josh

Hello josh and welcome to the forum and Oz.
So are you cycling from Perth to Darwin along the west coast and then flying/train/bus down to Melbourne?
Biking the WA coast mid summer is ambitious to say the least 8/
Al the best.
B Dave.

hy,

I cant really say much about the timing yet, but it should work out nicely
I'll take route 1 up north to Darwin, then Ill head to townsvill and down from there
all on bike

I do know it sounds crazy (to most folks) and it might not be the perfect time for some parts, but I can manage

G'day Josh. I'll go out on a limb here and say we have all been accused of doing something crazy at some stage.
Don't expect a whole a heap of dream takers here.
Some of us have also had a bit of experience with unprepared travellers in our very large country.

You'll see a lot of guidance and help for those keen to listen and learn from others experience. The last thing any of us want is to see a news story about you with a sad ending.
If nothing else, make a clear plan of where you are going to be, lodge it with a reliable person and stick to it. Don't let anyone tell you that the police are sitting around plotting your journey and waiting to swoop in and save you should you get in trouble.
They simply don't have the resources.
I'm happy to help with info and assistance with your journey.
All the best, Dave.

quiet a bit of food and some gear

it's gonna be fine ;)

anyhow, if someone wants to meet up or go on a daytrip let me know

I have come across several people over the years out and about, who were doing round Australia cycles. A very formidable but admirable undertaking. Good luck mate.

hy,

so I arrived quiet a bit ago
couldn't get on this forum though
forgot my password and for some reason could not reset it

anyhow
I sat on the bike for about 2 weeks so far, I'm in Carnarvon at the moment
it's awesome!

here's the link to my blog
cyclingjosh.com

when I do some daytrip worth mentioning here, so a walk and not just merely a bit off the highway, I'll post that

right now it's up to coral bay and then I'll head over to Tom Price, into the desert and to Karijin NP

If someone wants to know anything specific, just let me know
and if you are located more or less in the area, do so as well
I might make the trip to ya

G 'day Josh. Great to hear you are on your way and things are going well!
I'm over the other side of the country, so it might be some time before we could catch up.
Take care and keep on peddling.

Hi Josh, awesome trip mate! I am based in the Rockhampton region. Feel free to get in touch when you have an idea of when your coming through. It would be cool to see your set up and if the timing is right might be able to offer you a warm shower and a cold beer.

hello everyone,

I've been around Townsville and north of it for a while now, but I have decided to go back home, in fact I'm on the way now
reason is, cycling on the eastcoast aint too much fun, and it's cold down south
also I cant work, so I've decided to go back, and come back to to OZ in a few years on a working holiday
that way I can stay in a place longer and see what it's like to live there, I might move to OZ for all I know right now...

anyhow, best to all of you and I'll get back to you guys when I get back to OZ
thanks
best
j
