Scientific name: Calidris ruficollis

Common Name: Red-necked Stint

Order: Charadriiformes

Family: Scolopacidae

Other Names: Least Sandpiper, Land Snipe, Rufous-necked Stint, Little Sandpiper, Little Stint, Eastern Little Stint.

Distribution: Widespread throughout Australia.

Habitat: Coast, inlets, lagoons, mudflats sewage farms, saltmarsh, wetlands, lakes, dams.

Field Notes: Short dark legs, grey brown upper parts, pale eye-stripe, black tail and rump, mostly white underparts, grey sides, dark brown eye. Non-breeding plumage.
