I got a few replacement side release buckles.

As you can see the female has a gap on the attachment bar so it can be fitten to 25mm webbing (molle) without being sewn in place. The middle male doesn't have the gap, the left male does. I modified the males by sawing carefully to create the gap.

I never thought I'd find a use for the multitool saw.

I wanted to add my hydration sleeves to the side of my pack without using molle so they can be realeased quickly (10sec as opposed to 5min) if I wanted to take extra water without the whole pack.

The modified male can still be threaded on to a length of webbing as intended to allow cinching but as you can see in the above pic I didn't have that option.

I got them here & will keep a few spares in my pack- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ITW-NEXU...t=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item7dbd69cb7e
