On the way home from the Yarrunga/Kangaroo Valley meet Wentworth and I had a long discussion about what to do next. We arrived at the decision that we think another bushwalk meet would be cool, This time around the start of winter, up in the mountains at the stunning Kowmung river. It is much more remote than we have done before, and only suited to lightweight bushwalkers, which we appreciate will exclude a few, though the walk is not overly strenuous, the walk out is a long uphill slog.

Naturally there is nothing stopping anyone running another car camping trip before or after.

Interested? stay tuned to this thread.

Would never manage the walking uphill trip, but it is a good incentive to get my fitness level up and lose some weight :emozionato:
may be one day I could get myself into the level required.

Car camping is definitely good substitute, I am keen..

I would love to go on a walk-in bush walk meet, I can hike it too most locations no worries, im a bit of a chronic hiker/walker, Bushchief can attest to how much I walk :p but I need to get fully into lite backpacking. Any other get togethers that come up I'm keen.

Interested in both but can't commit without specifics.

The car one is easy..

I'd need to know walk distance and grade before committing to it..

Duration: 2 days

Start and Finish: Kanangra Walls car park

Distance: 12km walk in, 12km walk out (there and back kind of walk, unless people choose to take a different route back).

Elevation gain for walk out: about 600m over the first 3km.

Hey wentworth is this harder than the first walk I went of with you? And when someone says lightweight do you mean hardcore or like mediocre?

It's about as steep as the final hill of kedumba. But it's rough walking track rather than fire trail.
Regarding lightweight, you'd probably not want to carry more than 12kg or so, or the climb out would be a slog instead of an enjoyable trip.
The views are spectacular, well worth the walk.

Hmmmm that's a no frills walk (weight wise). Time to throw out the camp oven and gas heater. Darren ill trade you food for one of your survival CC one ice?

You'll be fine. If in doubt, do 10 000 burpees a day and the walk will seem like nothing.
