I will start a list of suppliers for materials and tools, I will also add to the list as people from other states list people they are aware of who can supply tools and materials.
The list is in particular order just places I have used myself in the past and I am 100% certain I have forgotten to add a few or not added some as some hide suppliers do not allow postal purchases (site unseen)

Tandy Australia http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com.au/en-aud/home/home.aspx NSW (sales and some special stuff)
Mac Lace Leather http://www.maclace.com.au/index.php QLD (excellent)
Packer Leather http://www.packerdirect.com.au/ QLD (great for kangaroo leather often sales)
Leffler http://www.leffler.com.au/ VIC (only used a few times no issues)
Birdsall Leather http://www.birdsall-leather.com.au/ NSW (only used a few times but no issue)
Crispin Leather http://crispinleather.com.au/ QLD ( a Tandy leather supplier with other stuff great but store only open 1 1/2 days a week)
Leather Direct http://www.leatherdirect.com.au/ WA (not used)

another place for tools is of Course EBAY but don't be fooled by prices there in can be cheaper and better quality directly from stores. But don't look past good quality used tools from the States bargains galore. Another issue I have with Ebay is buying Hides buying some types unseen or at least first seeing the quality of products a store sells (grading) can be a mine field and leave you very sour. A big consideration dealing directly with suppliers is networking many of these suppliers have ties with many professional leather workers who are also associated with the guild and may offer details to upcoming workshops run by them. they can also help novice with tips and tricks, material selections and keep you informed of sales.

Please anyone who knows of any retail stores please add link or details and I will add above with any comments. There are many places in the USA to buy from but as a hobby they may not be cost wise to use

In Geelong, Vic, the wholesaler has a little storefront where they sell offcuts and seconds. Full hides can be $40-$60, a few times I've found some small pieces for little pouches at no charge. Last time I was speaking to the boss he mentioned they're selling on ebay as well, same prices as in store (apparently, I haven't looked them up) plus postage. Next time I go past I'll remember to get their name.
