Knife Lanyard Knot - tied on the table

Initially I was confused at step 6, it took a few goes to work out which "center" I was aiming for, but I worked it out eventually.
Step 7 was ok. But I'm stuck at step 8 … i'm not sure what's going on there ...

Step 8 is taking the slack out of the knot:
Grab the loop in one hand and the two strands (A & B) in the other and pull in opposite directions.
This will result in several bights that stick out around the knot.
Take one bight and follow it around the knot pulling out the slack as you go.
Do NOT try to pull out all the slack at one go. It will take several rounds.
The last pull will either be at the loop end or the strand end.
