Kizer Domin Mini - 3 kinds of sharp

Factory Sharp
Wet Stone Grinder Sharp
Guided knife sharpener sharp

And what difference did it make , absolutely none what so ever !
The knife consistently failed at 150 slices with a rolled edge .

I love this knife , size / shape / action / how it's bolted together ... Everything except the soft blade steel .
My diamond sharpeners eat this steel much like most people eat a ham & cheese on rye !
The wet stone grinder really tore into the steel
The guided knife sharpener with diamond inserts ate the steel ..
And the edge rolled at 25 degrees twice and at 20 degrees . ( Factory edge was 25 degrees )

The blade steel really lets down what could have been a great little knife .
I sent Kizer an email about this soft knife ... Lets see what they say .

That is a pity. Kizer knives are a good standard but apparently not where it matters most. Maybe they'll send you a known good one from a good heat treat - I've worked in manufacturing and know they can make things work when they hold quality instead of profit as their primary goal.

Buy enough knives , .............. !
But yeah ... This one is buttery soft .. Not sure how much heat treat it got .
I will have to buy those files for testing steel ( Cant afford a rockwell tester )

Again !!!! Folds @ 150 slices ...

My Tsubosan HRC tester FILES are here ..
So the Kizer gets to be the first knife to be bitten by a HRC File ..

Which file bit the steel ?
1st , if the file is softer than the steel , it will skate off the steel ...
If the file is harder than the steel , then the file will bite the steel ..
The Kizer Domin Mini was bitten by the 55 HRC file ..
