Distribution: Throughout Australia.

Habitat: Urban areas, forests, wodlands and grasslands.

Field Notes: Medium sized butterfly, brown with 'eye' pattern on all wings.
Female wingspan 55mm.
Usually flys close to the ground. Sunbathes with wings open (see pic below)
Flys towards northern Australia in Oct/Nov.
Larvae are black with thin spines.
