As an afterthought, how does fresh water tortoise shell polish up?

I can help you with that. Eagle kills so fresh they're still twitching.

Here is some more direct evidence, my camera is a bit short sighted, but this was a pair of eagles some 2 km from any large body of water. I had suspected that there was more than one pair, owing to an aerial battle I had witness and also failed to photograph in any meaningful way.

More indirect evidence sea eagle. Found Gordonbrook Dam, Jan 2012. We also found 2 small tortoise shells with complete removal of body contents.
Please note last photo I collected evidence only scatted feet apart in the same spot.
