I've finally gotten around to making something that's been on the list for ages .... an awl !
Not very exciting, but I picked up this allen key ages ago.

A quick grind with a sander and finally a polish up with a fine stone:

The 6 sided allen key makes it quite easy to cut three facets on the tool, which form the cutting point.

Thats AWL-some, I made up a little stepped one a while ago from a drill bit, I'll see if i can find it in the garage and post a pic for ya.
You done well to carve out the facets, good job. Looks nice and light too. What did you use to carve out the facets?

Awlsome aussie123. You know there is one on many saks? Not as big, but pretty good and useful. They also have a hole halfway down the length so that they can be used for sewing heavy stuff.

A nice array of awls and have found the awl on my SAK quite handy at times.
