After all the HYPE about this knife , I am left disappointed . ( This sample - the one I tested )

I like the knife physically , the way it feels / sits in the hand / slices rope .
I also like the size of the ferrite rod . If we give the ferrite rod a value of say $20 , then the OK4 comes in at $36 .
This brings the $ right on about where you buy a Mora Robust . Can the OK4 compete with the Robust = Not this sample !
Factory edge was butter knife like .
So I put a guided 22deg bevel ( almost a match for the factory bevel ) on the knife .
The guided knife sharpener edge lasted all of , well not quite 50 slices . ( 50 slice FAIL )

The 50 Fail result was startling to be sure ( in a very bad way ) .
The factory edge was not perfect , but above average for 2021 ( what I have seen this year ) .
So I put it on the wet stone grinder for a fresh bevel .
@ 135 slices I felt the cutting power just go away . ( No edge roll )
This is not very good performance for a knife lauded as a Mora Challenger .

FIRE :

The blade is coated , and the spine feels almost rounded .
So I was wondering about the knives ability to strike a ferrite rod .
It took some effort and then the OK4 started throwing sparks .
One had to wear away the coating at the edge of the spine and then the knife threw a spark .
After wearing away the coating , the edge feels sharp @ the spine . ( Ferrite rod sharp )
Can't recommend the OK4 , the Hype about this knife does not match my reality .
So why not just Mora Robust and ferrite rod ?

What next for the OK4 ? How about a Scandi edge ?

Hultafors OK4 now has a Scandi edge .. ( Why not )
How sharp is it ? it's so sharp it takes hair off and you dont feel a thing except for the blade running over your skin .
And where the blade ran , is like a baby's bum ( smooth ) .
More rope slicing soon .

135 Slices ? = Just not good enough !
So I put a Scandi edge on the OK4
I was expecting the edge to roll , and it did .
A 50 slices ( first paper slice test ) , the edge had rolled .
But even with a rolled edge I got to a 250 Fail .
Now I can live with that ..

I stropped the edge on leather and brought the edge back .
Now having rolled , the thinnest part of the edge should be gone now .
? Less likely to roll ?
I will have to test that ,
Test how good the stropped edge is ... = More rope slicing .

I stropped the edge back , cut rope !
Stropped the edge back and cut rope again !
The 2nd time was a little better than the first , by a small margin .
1st time it was a 100 Fail and the 2nd time a 100 Pass by a small margin .
So the 2nd time , the edge was a little better ...
Disappointing over all though , as I feel this blade steel is very ( very ) ordinary !

The knife may (?) improve over time , but (?) will it compete with a Mora = I don't think so ( This sample )
