Thought I would introduce myself.
I’m based on the west side of Lake Macquarie and getting ready to travel Australia with my family. Planning on a lot of remote travel and figure I had better learn at least some basic bush skills.

We’re planning on a long term trip. We will have to work at times but see that as part of the experience.

Planning on smaller trips in the short term. Still got a bit to go with building up camper and Landcruiser.

Hoping to do a 2 week trip out west NSW next year

Welcome WanderOn.

Sounds like an exciting trip... I'm jealous.
Good luck with the trip...

This Forum is a great source of knowledge... Feel free to ask as many questions as you like. Myself and others are always more then happy to help out like minded people...

As always.... Happy Bushcrafting.

Thank you. Starting to do some reading and find my way around this site.

Looking forward to learning and also for my kids. They love being outside and nature.

Sounds good.... it is a great skill to pass onto the kids. Anything that gets the kids outside these days, is a positive in my opinion.

Not sure if your interested, but, You can actually pick up some nice cheap books that are handy out in the field.

The below are a couple of great books for beginners:

Australian Bushcraft by Plate, M.W:

and one of my favorites is the Australian Army bushcraft handbook:
