Scientific name: Pterodroma macroptera

Common Name: Great-winged Petrel

Order: Procellariiformes

Family: Procellariidae

Other Names:
N/A

Distribution: Pelagic.

Habitat: Ocean.

Field Notes: All dark brown except for a small patch of white near the base of it's black bill. Distinguishable from similar species such as Sooty and Short-tailed Shearwaters by it's all dark underwing.

Photos taken on a Pelagic boat trip departing from Eaglehawk neck on the East Coast of Tasmania.
