The Game Council of NSW has been dissoluted and all State Forest Hunting permits are revoked.

On Thursday 4 July 2013 the Minister for Primary Industries announced the dissolution of Game Council NSW as a result of recommendations made following the NSW Government’s governance review.

The NSW Government has suspended hunting in all NSW State forests, pending a new risk assessment. All issued Written Permissions are now invalid. Game Council and the Forestry Corporation of NSW will attempt to call all licence holders with bookings to confirm cancellation of their permits in the coming week.

Game Council is committed to working with the NSW Government as the report recommendations are implemented and will also be working closely with NSW game hunting licence holders to minimise the impact of interim arrangements.

gelandangan, it's not dissolved, it's been adsorbed by DPI, and stocked with bought government staff, not shooters, certainly not hunters, and most likely gun-grabbers and other socialist traitors.

say good by to all our hard work, and watch feral animal numbers explode! good by native species, you've been sold out by the NPA and DPI, we tried, and we're sorry, but we were prevented from saving you all

leaving the current state of government in existance is a bad idea HD, but no one will man up and stop it, so we just get bent over and shafted, constantly by the green, socialist traitors that we let destroy our nation

Thar's pretty much the main draw card, or one of a small few, that was getting me to look at relocating further south. Guess I'll strike that one off the list.....

Time for the great Aussie migration to Canada. Lose the surf board and grab some snowshoes! And we still have our semi autos here (5 round mags only but....) Sorry to rub that in. We have been passing laws to affirm that hunting rights are traditional and the gun registry was just abolished. Plus if I want to carry a couple assisted opening locking knives, no worries, unless you are in the big cities.

Just to point out some history, was not Australia a big island jail for the Brits? As I work in a Maximum security jail, when the convicts aren't happy with something that riots occur....just sayin' :emozionato:

I should point out that I was only saying this in a joking manner. Real riots are horrible for everyone on both sides of the issue. Please don't take me serious (no one else does so I am use to it!)

Well, i'm about as liberal as they come with regard to gun and feral animal control, but I could see this coming a mile away due to the conduct by the clowns running the show, mainly Mr McFarland. Hopefully it can still be salvaged after this debacle... but i'd say his actions have severely affected your chances for meaningful change, sensible laws, and fair treatment. Now, when we push for it more here in QLD, we've got that big ballsup to be waved in front of us as a huge reason not to proceed with it. Hopefully the farmer assist program will keep enough ferals in check until it all gets sorted out.

Can't say I was surprised when this was announced. My main concern now is there'll be a trail in 12 national parks and state forest hunting won't resume until that's over. While I hope I'm wrong I can see two potential issues:

1. They adopt the same model they're proposing for national parks to state forests. From what I can tell that means no individual hunting, just organised cull days and no bow hunting at all.
2. After the trial they declare the model unworkable and we lose hunting in the proposed national parks and the state forests we already had for good.

The gumbiment was looking for a reason to do something like this and two of the idiots had to give them the perfect excuse. We'll have to wait and see if the situation is salvageable.

Good thing as far as I can see. Too many clowns and fools out there shooting at anything and everything. I have no issue with organised and controlled cull days when ordinary citizens are excluded for the area. Letting a few loose in NPs is never going to do anything to reduce feral populations and until the shooters do something about the science, they will always be seen as extremists. I figure the gun nuts just brought it on themselves and gave the present government an excuse to renege on an obvious political deal to gain power.
