Thanks pap11y, it's a technique I have often seen, but for some reason have never tried until your giveaway gave me the kick in the butt I needed.

I have practiced since, but can't really get the shavings as long or fine as some of the examples in this thread.

What a great start for 2014, thank you very much.

Thanks everyone who threw their hat in. I understand that Christmas/New Year is pretty busy and that would have impacted the ability of some to participate...

JM, the DVD went out today and I have included a little something for your future feathers....

A package arrived today, first day back at work so I took a long lunch break and watched the first part of the DVD - Tracking Wolves. Amazing animals, great scenery.

The little something for future feathers was a real surprise. I have only ever owned folders because they were easy to just put in a pocket. The knife I used in making the feather sticks for the giveaway always sits in my pocket just about every day but I realised its shortcomings when it rocked on the pivot while carving. It's definitely not made for it.

I really appreciate this gift you have given me. It's hard to fathom receiving a gift like this, after only being a member here for such a short time, It means a lot to me.

Feathers are looking better already.

Thanks again pap11y, I'll be sure to pay it forward.
