Scientific name: Cereopsis novaehollandiae

Common Name: Cape Barren Goose

Order: Anseriformes

Family: Anatidae

Other Names: Pig Goose

Distribution: South-eastern coast of Australia and Tasmania, the southern coast of Western Australia and in south-eastern Victoria.

Habitat: Offshore islands, pasture land, tussock grass and low heathy scrub.

Field Notes: Large, grey goose, small head, greenish yellow triangular bill, pink/reddish legs with black feet.

Beautiful photos JKM. I especially like the display of the wings. Has interesting feather patterns for a fairly uniform bird.
