Common Name:Barn Owl

Scientific Name:Tyto alba

Order:Strigiformes

Family:Tytonidae

Other Names:Delicate owl,Lesser Masked Owl,Screech Owl,White Owl and others.

Distribution:Throughout Australia and the World except the ploar regions.

Habitat:Open drier country to light forest including farm land.

Field Notes:300-360mm.Mostly nocturnal. Flight is silent. Seems white in car headlights.
By day roosts in hollow logs and tree limbs, caves and rock overhangs, abandoned buildings, sheds and farm bulidings.
Food is small vertebrates and large invertebrates
