Scientific name: Vanellus tricolor

Common Name: Banded Lapwing

Order: Ciconiiformes

Family: Charadriidae

Other Names: N/A

Distribution: Endemic to Australia; found in the South, West and East of Mainland Australia and throughout Tasmania.

Habitat: Agricultural land, short grassland & semi-arid regions.

Field Notes: Diagnostic U-Shaped breast band and white throat, smaller than the Masked lapwing with a longer tail and shorter legs. Grey-brown upper-parts with primarily white under-parts. Black cap, white eye-stripe & yellow eye-ring.
