We went for a quick walk through the Creswick forest. A great place for mountain bikes, 4wd and walking.

Its very close to Ballarat but the freshly burnt out cars with police tape suggested it probably wouldn't be a great place for an overnighter!

None the less it is a nice place for a walk.

There are the remains of thousands of holes and trenches left over from gold mining days. The ground is strewn with quartz, mostly small pieces, but some are quite large.

I ride a mountain bike out that way often. It's a shame how poorly that patch of forest gets treated on the whole. Dumped household garbage, AC sheet, burnt stolen cars etc all ruin what is otherwise a lovely bit if bush. Some interesting gold history about that's for sure.

Are you from up this way?

Hi Joe,
I'm in Melbourne, but I have family in town, so we head up there a bit.

It's a good neck of the woods. Have you been into enfield state forest?

You blokes still get around the Ballarat area, I have been living in ballarat for a almost 3 years now, Wouldn't mind meeting some like minded blokes. i am oftern floating around the Creswick forest (only 10 mins from my home) doing some prospecting and mountain biking,
But enfield and daylesford forests are definitely my favourites, for camping ect.
Hit me up if your keen for a catch up fella's, even a beer at the pub, my shout.... hahaha
