I know there have been questions about what australian timbers were good for axe and the like. Sunday I was at Forrestry Dept sawmill museum and asked a old timer what they used loppin trees and this guy also used to build bridges and stongly recomended Qld Nut (macadamia) stong and also steam bent easy.

Another hint for like Broad axes and other tools that have bent handles (left and Right handed) was after some time using them handle would straighten becoming difficult to use. He informed what you needed to do was get a hot rock and place the hedd of axe on it place another on top then at the end of handle place weighty branch on it, by the end of a lunch break the handle would be reformed.
