Android App - OziExplorer open source alternative "Androzic"

No affiliation, just started playing with it.

Android navigation client that uses OziExplorer maps (ozf2, ozfx3). Based on free swampex library.

Basically an open source Android app which can use your existing OziExplorer map collections in a GPS-enabled android device (tablet/phone, etc.)

There are many sources for suitable map collections online, including torrents - no links I'm afraid.

EDIT: Here's a link for NSW 1:25,000 topo maps (not pirated, Festy put them together from LPI data) - http://maps.festy.org/downloads/ozi/NSW/25k/

EDIT 2: I can confirm that whoever made the above maps geo-coded them correctly. Using Androzic and the GPS , I was able to get a very accurate fix on my current location on the topo.

I'll be keen to have a look at the Google app; thanks for the heads up.

And there is a genuine OziExplorer for Android available from OziExplorer's website. Its in Beta at the moment, so its free, but with some nag-wear. They say if you purchase it while in Beta, they will remove the nag-wear and give an upgrade to the commercial version where it comes out (this would represent a substantial discount).
