    Backpacker Medics DRG.

    Hello guys,

As you know I have been away for awhile and only lurking in the background. The reason why is that I have been directing my time and efforts towards specialising in wilderness medicine.
This has led to me becoming a member of the Backpacker Medics Disaster response group.
This group is a dedicated bunch of medics and logistics that form a light and fast team that can and do respond to natural and man made disasters mainly in the Asia pacific region.

The team are a charity and totally self funded in its efforts and receive nil monies from governments and no one gets a wage it is totally volunteer run.

We have as we speak a small recon team on the ground in Sulawesi at ground zero in the city of Palu. The team have found communities about 1 hour west, south, and east that have yet to receive any form of medical help so they have started to treat and transport patients (by hand carry stretcher) to aid stations.

I am on standby to be deployed in a weeks time as a follow up medic for this ongoing episode.

Now this is where I stand with cap in hand. I’m not asking for me but for the team I have money to pay my flights but the team need ongoing funds to pay for in country costs including medical equipment, translators, food, fuel, transport etc everything that is needed to run a small highly skilled medical response team that backpacks all its equipment to scenes that the big actors can’t get to.

You can donate through www.backpackermedics.org or through www.chuffed.org/project/bpm-drg

Admins if this breaks rules please delete and contact me..

    Thank you all..
If you cannot donate at least share the word. This is a dedicated bunch of Aussies helping our fellow man.

Anything over $2 is tax deductible I believe.
This should be confirmed on the chuffed site.

How can I ever get lost when everyone is always telling me where to go?

Oh, now you are starting to talk my language. I should have read further when I was in the web site. Hmmm. (Pauses, strokes his whiskered chin and nods sagely while in deep thought) I will now investigate further. I did read that you had been in Perth but it didn't click. Quick Robin, back to the batcave....
