    Camp stove setup

Here's my camping stove setup. It's made with a stainless steel water bottle, and a bit of aluminium roof flashing. Works really well, even in rain and really shXXtty conditions. Runs on Metho. 30mls meths boils 500ml water in around 4 1/2 minutes.

Sorry, should have cleaned the burnt chicken soup of it before posting!

Heres hot chicken soup in the rain on a fishing session last winter:

Yep, that's the ocean you can see through the jetty floor! It was also cold as hell, blowing a gale, and raining! Didn't catch a damn thing, but at least we had hot chicken soup !

Here's the set-up I made years ago. I have had used this kit in various combinations for decades. Although many of the pieces are Trangia, I’ve added other bits and pieces and modified some. The kit was originally for just myself, living out of the back of my tiny 4WD. Elements of it are still taken bushwalking and it could easily be modified for two.
    Trangia_cooking_kit2_JD.jpgTrangia_Kit.jpgTrangia_Stove.jpgTrangia_stove_stand_JD.jpg
    • Trangia 25 series metho stove, 102 g (holds 125 ml, will boil 500 ml in 8 minutes, 1 l in about 10 minutes, 35 ml gives 13 minutes burn, and stove holds enough to boil 3 x 0.8 l pots, use stove no more than full, empty and flush with cooking oil before transporting in aircraft)
    • homemade lay-flat heavy-duty aluminium stand / windshield, 150 g (see below)
    • mini Bic lighter
    • Trangia nested pots 13.6 cm ID 14 cm, 0.75 to 0.8 l boil capacity, 206 g
    • white plastic mixing bowl also used as sink, nests around kit
    • Trangia Multi-disc (cut down to 16 cm), combination lid/strainer/cutting board, 75 g
    • Trangia 600 ml boil capacity kettle with lid, 142 g
    • aluminium pot holder, lightened and shortened to fit inside kettle, 45 g
    • 19 cm nonstick aluminium frypan with folding handle
    • 2 nested ultra-light aluminium plates with raised sides so also work as shallow bowls
    • Klipo Sistema modular cutlery set, (KFS, chopsticks)
    • Australian Army FRED spoon / P-38 tin opener
    • plastic soup spoon
    • Swedish army folding cup
    • Chux and scoring pad
    • metho (stored separately in a flexible bottle, not shown)
The stand is way over-engineered and I really only use it for vehicle-based activities but its solid as and will easily hold several kgs.
I have since gone to a very basic titanium set-up for bushwalking.
